I felt like I just wanted to focus on families and give them that support that I know how operators need. Hello, this is Jeff Cave, owner of Parent Placement Solutions. I was fortunate enough to get into senior housing, assisted living, large scale communities back in 1997. And most of that time I was the executive director or general manager or the operations person. As I’ve seen hundreds of families go through this process and they don’t know where to start. And what I’ve found is a lot of times families, parents still live at home, which means the son or the daughter’s going in on a routine basis to check on mom to make sure are they taking their medications? Are they eating okay? Are they taking showers routinely? And it’s always a worry. And what I see is this role reversal where the adult child is now the acting parent of their parent.
And that’s not what they want, but that evolves over a time. And when the time’s right for the family, I can come in and help them through that process to find a good solution, to make sure mom is safe, we find the right location, we find the right price. And that way when you go to visit, you don’t have to worry about the things you were worried about when they were at their own home. And what I love is just to see the gains a person now with their peers. They get to be around other people and activities and the goal is to make your parents’ lives better than if they were just staying at home.
